Tuxertal Mountain Biking in Tux

150 km of trails for every level

Tux is a true paradise for mountain bikers: Over 150 km of marked (e-)MTB trails lead through the breathtaking alpine scenery of the Tuxertal. Whether it’s a relaxed ride along the Tuxbach or a challenging ride to the Höllensteinhütte – there’s something for every level and ambition. Start your tour right from the Boderhof and experience unforgettable biking adventures in the heart of the Tyrolean Alps.

Pepis Kids Land at Penkenjoch

A true highlight for families: Pepis Kids Land at Penkenjoch (2,095 m). At its heart stands the 8-meter-tall walk-in wooden bear “Penkenpepi”, featuring a climbing wall, slide, crawl tunnel, and more. Outside, little adventurers can enjoy a low ropes course, swing paradise, giant air cushion, and a sand play area. A special thrill: the 15-meter-long slide! Children under 10 ride free of charge on the Finkenberger Almbahn when accompanied by an adult.

 

Granat Chapel at Penken

Where architecture meets spirituality

The Granat Chapel at Penkenjoch is an architectural gem, designed by renowned Swiss architect Mario Botta. Its shape resembles a garnet stone, which is commonly found in the region. Inside, the chapel features local larch wood and remarkable lighting effects, creating a warm and contemplative atmosphere. It is dedicated to Blessed Engelbert Kolland and invites visitors to pause, reflect, and find peace. A short walk from the nearby reservoir leads directly to this very special place.

Mehlerhaus in Madseit

A glimpse into 400 years of Tux history

The nearly 400-year-old Mehlerhaus in Madseit offers fascinating permanent exhibitions on local history – including the Tux magnesite works and traditional household tools. In summer, a local farmers’ market takes place here every two weeks, featuring regional products and traditional crafts. A truly authentic place to experience the culture of the Tuxertal up close.

Stoankasern Alpine Dairy

Traditional cheese delight at 1,984 m

Embedded in an idyllic alpine setting above Juns, the Stoankasern alpine dairy transforms fresh alpine milk into cheese and butter every day. Visitors are welcome to watch the cheesemakers at work and enjoy the delicious products on-site or take them home. A rewarding destination for both hikers and food lovers.

Tux Mill in Juns

Living history of the miller’s craft

Dating back to 1839, the Tux Mill has been lovingly restored and now serves as a museum. Visitors gain fascinating insights into traditional flour production and the agricultural history of the Tuxertal. A visit is especially worthwhile during the summer months, when guided tours are available.

Thanks to the barrier-free ascent with the Glacier Bus 3 – the highest double-cable gondola in the world – this unforgettable experience is accessible to everyone. On-site, you'll find Viscope telescopes with interactive information and a photo point for capturing memories that will last a lifetime.

A fascinating underground world at the Hintertux Glacier

At the Nature Ice Palace, you’ll explore sparkling ice caves, frozen waterfalls, and even an underground glacier lake – a truly one-of-a-kind experience worldwide. Right next door, the Spannagel Cave – Europe’s highest show cave – takes you through impressive marble passages and stalactite formations. Both attractions are open all-the-year and can be visited regardless of the weather.

Luis’ Glacier Flea Park

Fun & Snow at 3,250 m – Right in the middle of summer

Europe’s highest adventure playground thrills kids from July to September with a snow carousel, tubing track, mini lift, giant gondola, and the Glacier Flea photo station – all surrounded by real snow in summer! Thanks to barrier-free access (also suitable for strollers) and free uphill and downhill rides for children under 10, the Glacier Flea Park is a perfect destination for families. Almspielerei Eggalm

Adventure for the whole family

At the mountain station of the Eggalm cable car, families can look forward to the Almspielerei adventure area: a large water pond with a raft, pull boat, and slackline, plus a sand playground, rubber duck course, and bouldering wall. While the kids play, parents can relax and take the views from the sun terrace. The Eggalm hiking rally adds puzzle-solving fun to the mountain adventure – and children under 10 ride free on the cable car!

Playarena Tux

Indoor & Outdoor Adventures

The Playarena in Tux offers a 1,200 m² paradise for children and teens: Trampoline park, high ropes course, climbing wall, soft play area, creative zone, cinema, and chill-out lounge guarantee fun in any weather. In summer, the adventure continues outdoors with rafting, canyoning, and themed hikes. Professional childcare is available for kids aged 0–16 years. Refreshing Water Fun in Tux-Finkenberg

Outdoor adventure pool & Thermal Bath

Cool off on hot summer days at the Finkenberg adventure pool with a 25 × 20 m pool, waterslide, bubble jets, waterfall, massage showers, children’s pool, playground, and a spacious sunbathing lawn. Open from May to early September, daily in good weather from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Alternatively, relax at the Hintertux Thermal Outdoor Pool, located at 1,500 m above sea level, and enjoy a soothing swim in healing thermal water with stunning panoramic views. Open in July and August, weather permitting.

Canyoning & Rafting in the Zillertal

Get your adrenaline pumping in the heart of the Zillertal Alps! From wild rafting on the Ziller River – perfect for families – to action-packed canyoning in spectacular gorges like the Zemm Gorge, with jumps, natural slides, and abseiling sections. Tours usually start from Finkenberg or Mayrhofen and last 2 to 3 hours. Children from around 6 years of age are welcome. The Tux-Finkenberg region is a true paradise for climbing enthusiasts, offering nine via ferratas (difficulty levels A to E) and three climbing crags. Professional mountain guides are available for guided tours.

Archery Course in Hintertux

Right on the forest edge in Hintertux, a thrilling 3D archery course with 15 target stations awaits. Each station offers three shooting positions – for children, beginners, and experienced archers. The course is open year-round and suitable for children aged 8 and up. Equipment rental and basic training are available at the Hotel Hintertuxerhof. Guests with the Tux-Finkenberg Ticket receive special discounts.

Thousands of fans gather to celebrate with the legendary band in a rousing festival full of Alpine rock, atmosphere, and emotion. A must-see for music lovers and longtime fans – and just a few minutes by car from the Boderhof!

Paragliding & Tandem Flights in the Zillertal

Fly like a bird and experience breathtaking views of majestic peaks and lush green valleys while paragliding in the Zillertal. Tandem flights take off from six different launch sites in the upper Tuxertal – including Hintertux Glacier, Penkenjoch, and Eggalm – always accompanied by experienced pilots. Flight durations range from 5 to 45 minutes and are available year-round. Children from around 6 years of age can also take part. A truly unforgettable adventure in the heart of the Alps!
